YSA is seeking an intern who will work with the Sr. Vice President and Vice President of Education to:
- Assist with the development and creation of new educational resources, including but not limited to the following:
- A strategy guide for engaging young children, ages 5 through 12, in service and service-learning
- Resources for planning and implementing a high-quality semester-long service-learning program focused on water issues
- An annotated curricular and related service project resource manual for middle school teachers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
- A series of tip sheets to guide university and college students planning, through service-learning, to engage K-12 students in service projects
- Research curricular resources surrounding national and global issues i.e. hunger, water, engaging diverse communities, childhood obesity, the environment, disaster preparedness, and healthy futures
- Research, identify and recommend relevant organizational partners in the U.S. and other countries
- Research and track the use of YSA resources, in order to recommend revisions, and to respond to gaps as appropriate
The successful applicant will have:
- Sociology/anthropology or Education background (preferred)
- Strong research and writing skills
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational abilities
- Interest in childhood-related issues at the international level
- Strong critical thinking skills
Full-time or part-time internship positions are available. Applicants may be graduate or undergraduate students. This intern position is non-paid; travel stipends are available.
