YSA is known for big ideas: We believe in youth changing the world. And in 2011, we can also be known for big results. In 2011, YSA embarked upon a journey to directly engage 3.7 million young people in service by 2015. We’re off to a great start: In the first year, met and even surpassed our benchmark goal, and granted a record-breaking $1,007,300 to support youth-led service and service-learning projects.
YSA’s real achievement, though, is measured in the youth we’ve activated, and the change brought about in their communities.
Throughout this Annual Report, you’ll see young people changing the world. With half the world’s population under the age of 25, YSA is engaged in the vital work of activating young people to be the leaders not of tomorrow, but of today.
At YSA, we do nothing alone. As we celebrate our successes, thanks are due to so many: corporate underwriters, partner organizations, parents, teachers, staff, and especially the millions of young people who power the youth service movement. Together, we are YSA.
