Andrew is a two-time YSA Disney Minnie Grant winner and organized projects on Global Youth Service Day in both 2007 and 2008 focused on the environment and climate change. In 2007, he led his group's environmental project to help monarch butterflies and formed a relationship with a school in China using digital pictures and video.
relationship continued, and in 2008, Andrew led the first ever joint ecological project between students in the United States and students in China. He also worked with his member of Congress to honor the school in China with a Congressional Proclamation."Before my Global Youth Service Day project I never really knew what I wanted to do for a living. I enjoyed politics, I liked ecology and I went to China every summer, but I never thought of joining the three together. Now after doing the project and learning how much I really love working on this subject, I can safely say that I want to do this sort of thing for a living. It's a really great feeling knowing what you want to do for the rest of your life and it's an even better one when you know you're helping save the planet."
