Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe

The service learning project will target youth in the community with a call to action of service for the HOPE of the future of our youth and the catalyst they provide to the future of our community. Two significant volunteer events will be the cornerstone of the project.

first will take place on Martin Luther King Day, as participants engage in "Random Acts of Kindness" throughout the community. The second will culminate on Golbal Youth Service Day when volunteers will stage a UNITY IN THE COMMUNITY event that will harness the efforts of their workshops, focus groups and other vehicles for community service. This event will combine the efforts of more than 100 volunteers who will organize and facilitate the event. Participants will "unite" in the spirit of service learning and community service. There will be presentations of the work that has been done by the youth as well as hands on activities for community members to participate in. Examples of some of the planned activities for the day will be a beach clean up, a canned food drive, writing letters to the troops serving in foreign lands, and creating a mural depicting the project that will be placed in public at the Boys & Girls Club.
