We are going to build organic raised garden beds on April 16th, 2011 for Global Youth Service Day.
purpose of this garden will be to:1. Provide dynamic, hands-on learning opportunities for youth during the summer to provide academic enrichment and combat "summer learning-loss," a significant problem for park youth in Starksboro;2. Learn about and promote environmental stewardship, healthy eating, community service, and physical fitness;3. Increase youth and resident engagement in the community and foster collaborative community relationships to improve the quality of life in the park;4. Connect youth with positive adult role models, including adult park residents and other volunteers, and support leadership development of park youth
