One hundred and six members of the Keystone Club (part of The Boys and Girls Club of Garfield) will collaborate with a group of GIS (Geographic Information System) professionals to map their community’s assets. Youth will document community assets such as restaurants, parks, and safe walking/biking routes and make this information available on an interactive online map. Visitors to the map website will be able to plot walking tours of Garfield, calculate safe walking/bike routes, and find restaurants that provide healthy food choices.
y will work with nutritionists to evaluate the menus offered and provide the information to the community of 10,000 people, so that all can make healthy food and exercise choices.
