Kasijjagirwa Tree Planting

Forest cover in Uganda is fast disappearing due to pressure from construction and furniture industries, and high demand for fuel at home. The massive deforestation has led to soil erosion, loss of soil fertility, destruction of biodiversity, disruption of wildlife and flooding.

YSD 60 children and youth will come together and design literature and posters to help educate the public about the impact of deforestation and alternative ways they could use the environment. Youth will also engage the local residents in a tree planting campaign to promote the environment.Officers from nature Uganda will train the youth about the impact of deforestation and a forestation upon the environment. Youth will also learn about the environmentally friendly ways that could be used to protect the environment. The youth will use the knowledge acquired to educate the public on deforestation in support of a better environment. Youth will use the experience to Youth will use the experience to reinforce academic skills such as public speaking, calculation, observation, recording and writing. At the end we expect our project to reach over 600,000 local residents and motivate them to change by better ways of preserving the environment.
