A Rain water harvesting strategy as an alternative to avert water crises

The water crisis in Kalambi sub-county has reached alarming levels. Close to 40,000 people compete for the same spring well. This makes competition for water very tough on top of prolonged droughts.The earliest one can go through the mandatory queue for water is 45 minutes.

an average rainfall of 1400mm and an increasing amount of permanent buildings, rainfall harvesting has proved to be an attractive alternative.The Teens Eco-Club intends to initiate rainwater harvesting to avert this crisis.
