Moldova is known in the world for its most productive and fertile soils and hard working people who practice extensive agriculture for centuries and which was their major source of income.
r the collapse of the Soviet Union the economic links with the neighboring countries were lost and many people became unemployed, felt below the poverty line, and were forced to cut the wallnut trees on the shores of the roads from villages which served as a protection against soil errosion during winds and rains and as a major source of income for people in the village. The wallnut tree has build a whole culture around it, which started to erode after 1990. We intend to reanimate this culture in the hearts of youth and children as well as adults of Pirlita village through a planting campaign involving more than 200 children aged 6-18 from this village. The main outcome of the project will be two lines 2.5 km long from both sides of the main road leading to the village planted with wallnut trees and a training course for the children participating in this action aimed to teach them about importance of planting trees for getting clean and fresh air, avoiding soil errosion, and also earning a "green revenue" for their families.
