Marissa is a freshman at the University of California, Berkeley. She is a lifetime member of Girl Scouts and recently completed her Girl Scout Gold Award. For her Gold Award, Marissa founded a non-profit organization with the mission of empowering youth through the development of leadership skills, civic-engagement, and service-learning. Through the program, called the IMPACT (Individuals Making Progress and Change Together) Alliance, she led a group of 30 youth in her community through an 8-month personal and professional development course. Now that Marissa is living in Berkeley, she has also started a branch of the IMPACT Alliance for youth in Oakland, CA. Marissa attributes her passion for change and innovation to the invaluable friendships, support, and inspiration than she has received from her Girl Scout family.
