Mike joined Youth Service America as the Manager of Outreach in June 2010. His role at the organization will be to track domestic partnerships, manage Lead Agencies during Global Youth Service Day, and garner support for youth service and service-learning from federal, state, and municipal governments. He also develops education materials for YSA partners, providing them with the resources to engage elected officials at various levels and advocate for service-learning.
Mike was born in Hong Kong, raised in Australia, and has lived in the United States for ten years. After attending high school in Virginia, Mike went on to obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Cultural Anthropology from the University of Mary Washington in 2009. He enjoys listening to most subgenres of punk rock and heavy metal, and concert-going is a favorite pastime. Mike is also a longtime appreciator of the dermal arts, and continues to build his collection. He is happily married to his wife Katie, his partner in culinary adventures that has explored the turducken, home-cured bacon, and various cuisines.
